Full Inclusion topic of annual banquet
Oregon native Karen Gaffney will keynote the 46th Evansville ARC Annual Banquet on Wednesday, June 14th at the Radisson Evansville Hotel, 600 Walnut Street.
Miss Gaffney is quickly becoming a recognized national champion of full inclusion. She worked with others in the Portland, Oregon area to form a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with Down syndrome and other disabilities reach full inclusion in families, schools, communities, and the workplace.
The Karen Gaffney Foundation is creating awareness and calling attention to the tremendous capabilities of people with disabilities through videos as well as public speaking engagements.
Miss Gaffney, currently a student at Portland Community College, is pursuing an Associates of Science degree and a certificate in early intervention programs. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy, earning a regular high school diploma. With tremendous hard work on Karen's part, along with early intervention, she was fully included in a regular classroom setting throughout her academic career.
She has been a frequent keynote presenter for the National Down Syndrome Congress, The Arc, and most recently at the Arc of Indiana Conference. You won't want to miss Karen's positive message of inclusion! The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are available through Evansville ARC for $15 per person.
